iPhone 5 Features
Almost all the users of iPhone 3 and 3GS were expecting that iPhone 4 will be different and modified when compared with the previous model but it didn’t happen so. That’s why people commented a lot on it last year. Now, they are thinking to skip the iPhone 4 and expecting a lot about coming iPhone 5 with new features and tweaks.
Below are some features that iPhone users are expecting in iPhone 5:
Dual-core Processor: Following the examples of LG and Motorola who have already released their dual core android phones. The 1GHz A5 dual core processor that is present in the iPad 2 will also be a feature of the iPhone5.
iOS 5 is expected to bring new and unique features to the iPhone5.
White Models: It is quite likely that Apple introduces iPhones in white.
Improved 3D Graphics: iPhone 3GS and the iPhone 4 both use a PowerVR SGX535 chip, but the much awaited iPhone 5 will have the improved PowerVR SGX543MP chip also found in the iPad 2 that will provide it’s users with improved 3D graphics.
Enhanced Camera: The 5 megapixel of the iPhone 4 is being updated to an 8-megapixel camera in the iPhone 5 to give its users even better media results.
Longer Battery Life: Apple’s track record shows that the iPhone 4 had 40 percent more talk time than the iPhone 3GS, so we can look forward to a further improvement in the fifth-generation iPhone.
Enhanced Voice Control: One can expect Apple to introduce even more sophisticated enhancements so that users are able to compose e-mails, text messages etc. by just using their voice.
Video Chat /FaceTime Over Cellular Networks: At present FaceTime in iPhone 4 only works with the availability of Wi-Fi. It would be quite convenient if users could use it over a cellular data networks as well.
Cloud-computing Support: iTunes is a necessity to activate and sync the iPhone. Unlike, setting up an Android phone, cloud-based iPhone syncing is not easy to achieve. Although Dropbox offers “cloud” functionality, they don’t even come close to Amazon’s new Cloud Drive, which gives you 5GB of free online storage. Our sources say that Apple will be renewing its MobileMe service and might add a free cloud service too.
Extended Ram: It is possible for Apple to increase the Ram from 512 MB in the iPhone4 to 1GB in the iPhone 5.
Superior Home Screen: Users are anticipating a customizable home screen, with a real “dashboard.” The iPhone 5 might not have a Home button and then the controls will be entirely touch sensitive.
4G Network Compatibility: Although using 4G data networks is tough on battery life, Apple might include “true” 4G data support in the next iPhone 5 and make the iPhone 5 a true 4G phone which the iPhone 4 was not.
Additional Memory: Apple users are awaiting a 64GB version of the iPhone as opposed to just the16GB and 32GB ones last year.
Larger Screen and Better Resolution: To compete with the larger screens of android smartphones, Apple will also be increasing its screen size to about 4-5 inches diagonally thus providing better resolution, but at the same time not making the iPhone any bigger or losing any battery life.
Fewer Failed and Dropped Calls: Apple users hope that in the new iPhone 5 there will be fewer failed/dropped calls. Whether this flaw is with the phone or the carrier, either way, it will be interesting to see how Verizon’s network handles the inflow of iPhone users.
More Carriers: The CDMA version of the iPhone has finally come to Verizon, so users can expect a Sprint version or even a T-Mobile version of the iPhone.
New Design: iPhone 5 might have a new design similar to that of the iPad 2 (metallic back and reduced thickness).
NFC-Enabled (Near Field Communication Technology): If this new technology is introduced it will serve as a bar code technology and enable your iPhone to act as a payment device, a car key and other such things.
Low Cost Models: Apple might consider launching a low cost version of the iPhone that will be affordable for a wider range of people.
Biometric Security: Biometric security feature would make it possible to swipe your finger to lock/unlock your phone. This can be combined with NFC (Near Field Communication Technology) for providing other fascinating features.
Micro-HDMI Out: As of last month, Apple has announced support for full 720p or 1080i HD video output for the iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4G, and iPad 2. But this will work only with Apple’s $39 Digital AV that sends that HD video (audio) to a TV or a monitor. This is quite expensive as compared to Android-powered smartphones that offer a built-in Micro-HDMI port that only requires an economical $5 cable to run video on your TV/monitor.
Flash Support, Removable Battery and Two Sim Card Tray: Users hope for Flash support, Removable battery and a Two Sim Card Tray in the new iPhone, all of which don’t seem plausible at the moment.

The main feature that all smart phones are missing is the shape. The old Nokias were the best, you could put them on vibrate alert and call from another phone, lay back and enjoy. Try it with an iphone and hardly any penetration is possible not to mention the messy screen. Now us girls have to pack yet another device when travelling. C’mon designers think of us.
